Naomi Watts' "Sunlight Jr." set to premiere at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival

Tribeca 2013: Naomi Watts Leads Competition Films at the film festival April 17-28

Filmed in Pinellas County in late 2011, Sunlight Jr. starring Academy Award nominees Naomi Watts and Matt Dillon will premiere at the New York's Tribeca Film Festival.

The world premiere of writer-director Laurie Collyer's romantic drama was announced Tuesday in the lineup of a festival co-founded 11 years ago by Robert De Niro. Sunlight Jr. is the story of a convenience store employee (Watts) and her paraplegic boyfriend (Dillon) initially thrilled at the news that she's pregnant. But her hourly wage job won't go far with another mouth to feed, throwing their relationship into turmoil. Norman Reedus (TV's The Walking Dead) co-stars as their hardscrabble neighbor in a seedy motel. Collyer previously directed Maggie Gyllenhaal to a Golden Globe nomination in Sherrybaby.

The Tribeca Film Festival runs Apr. 17-28 in lower Manhattan, featuring 53 world premieres including Sunlight Jr. Collyer's movie has yet to secure a distribution deal but the Tribeca showcase could attract an offer for theatrical release.

Is she going to have 3 movies coming out this year? 2 mothers, Diana, and this one? I'm thinking of splitting votes if ever these films will go for awards.

This film is definitely her cup of tea, but again, an art film that won't get her to the Oscar I'm afraid.
