Naomi Watts Talks Plastic Surgery in British InStyle (Feb 2015): "Never Say Never"

by Francesca Bacardi Fri., Dec. 19, 2014

Naomi Watts is one of the most flawless women in Hollywood, from her gorgeous face to her incredible acting skills, but is she worried about maintaining her looks forever? Who isn't?!

The actress graces the February 2015 cover of British InStyle and opens up about the pressures to stay beautiful in Tinseltown and how she almost bailed on acting. After Renée Zellweger debuted a strikingly different face earlier this year and mass hysteria ensued, several celebrities took a stand and defended the Bridget Jones's Diary actress' decision and started a new conversation about beauty "standards." Watts says that growing old is difficult for everyone and defends Zellweger in the interview.

"[The backlash] was cruel and unnecessary. I saw a picture and I thought she looked great! She looked amazing! Leave her alone! You can't win can you?" she asks the magazine. "I don't have any judgment about [plastic surgery]; whoever makes that choice, that's fine."........

"It's not easy watching yourself get older, but when I look at two women in their fifties or sixties or seventies side by side, one who's had surgery and one who hasn't, I think one likes themselves a lot more and one looks more dignified and graceful."

"And I hope I get to stay being that woman," she adds. "But I would never say 'never.'"

Now that she has made it as an A-lister in Hollywood, she can easily look back and talk about her beginning days as an actress. The struggle was real for the St. Vincent star, who almost threw in the towel on her dream career and returned to Australia.

"…When it was like, you know what, I can't handle it, I'm giving up," she recalls. "But every time my bags were packed, I'd get a call saying, 'You've got this part.'"

They do say timing is everything!

Now, the actress has it all, including best friend Nicole Kidman! The two besties have been close for as long as she can remember and can relate to one another because they're actually living very similar lives.

"We really became close when I moved to America. So, yeah, we've known each other almost 30 years. We always pick up where we left off," she says. "There's so much to talk about - especially because we've both got kids the same age. We talk about everything that normal friends do and also about work stuff sometimes."

Everyone needs a pal they can dish to, and it looks like Watts found hers!

Hi Rich!!! I was wondering whether you would have any pics of Naomi with Lauren Bacall somewhere kept, as they coincided at The Australai New York premiere with her bestie Nicole Kidman. I would be so pleased since Naomi's my current favourite actress and Bacall the Golden Era's.
