The New York City Light for Rights event featured United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, amfAR chairman Kenneth Cole, UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador and actress Naomi Watts, New York City Speaker of the City Council Christine C. Quinn, and 13-year-old AIDS activist Keren Dunaway-Gonzalez, and Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon.
The lights were out for 5 minutes as part of the Light for Rights event. Light For Rights events are happening in cities and towns all over the world and will bring thousands of people together on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2009, to honor those we have lost to AIDS and to highlight the fundamental rights we all share.
Naomi addressed the crowds before cutting the lights.

Before this memorable event in the evening, Naomi was seen during the day shopping with her mom in Soho, dressed as cute as a button.
