Australian Jetstar airline Magazine - Dec 2010

Naomi is featured on the cover of the Australian Jetstar Magazine with an old photo channeling sexiness of the Marilyn Monroe style and of course, one of her upcoming new projects will be the biopic of the classical sex symbol. Here below are a thumnail of the exclusive scans of the cover and inside pages with nice photos and an interview with Jessica Finn on her current film "Fair Game" which can be seen on the forum via the link below the image, and following which, the text of the interview.

Twice the Talent

She's one of Australia's favourite daughters who has become Hollywood's darling complete with an Oscar nomination, but behind the camera, Naomi Watts is a down-to-earth, doting mother of two

- by Jessica Finn

Even though she has left the men in her life behind — partner and actor Liev Schreiber, and their two children Alexander, three, and 21-month-old Samuel Kai — to meet with Jetstar Magazine at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York City, Naomi Watts appears every bit the devoted mother.

After breezing into the room for our appointment to talk about her new movie Fair Game, the conversation soon drifts to her off-screen joy. “Things have changed now that I have children,” shares the 42-year-old Australian, English-born actress. “I don’t put in the same blood, sweat and tears anymore.

“I’ve always thought of myself as someone with a great work ethic, and that I’m very committed to what I do. But I don’t work as often as I used to now. I used to take my work home and stay up all night deliberating on it.

Naomi on Sean Penn

On Sunday, Dec. 5, Penn will conduct a Q&A at DGA with Biutiful star Javier Bardem and director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu. It's hosted by SAG Film Society.

What is Penn doing in this boldface-name-infested international touring circus? He hates this stuff. "He's never been big on press," says Penn's Fair Game costar Naomi Watts. "He's got tunnel vision ... Right now he's focused on Haiti, and that's what he cares about. Promoting films is never what he's been interested in. He doesn't do a lot, ever. If I was as good as Sean Penn, maybe I could get away with it. I've got a bit more to learn. He's so brilliant nobody cares. It's the hardest part of the job, promoting movies. For some people, it's awkward and difficult to attempt to sell something."

[Interview] Naomi Totally Driven : An Interview with MovieLine

Naomi Watts on Fair Game, Short Attention Spans and How You Get to Know a Spy

by S.T. VanAirsdale, The Movieline Interview, Nov 2010

Naomi Watts freely admits she had a hard time getting to know Valerie Plame, the ex-CIA agent notoriously outed by a Bush Administration henchman in 2003. But it wasn’t because of what Plame couldn’t tell the actress in preparation for Fair Game, the new film starring Watts as the newly exposed covert operative. It’s because of the intimate yet necessary details of a marriage that, as a result of the scandal, nearly became some of the Iraq War’s most infamous collateral damage.

Watts and Plame finally sorted that out, of course. What emerged is director Doug Liman’s two-pronged tale of Plame’s struggle to protect her nuclear counterproliferation missions in the Middle East, all the while battling to save her marriage to the outraged former ambassador Joe Wilson (Sean Penn), whose critical New York Times editorial mobilized the White House against Plame in the first place. It’s a tricky balance Watts manages with typical aplomb — not that it didn’t take a while, the Oscar-nominee told Movieline during a chat last month in New York.

[Article] Doug Liman on Naomi Watts & Sean Penn

Doug Liman: Sean Penn Has the Movie Star Role But Naomi Watts’ Steely Performance May Be Her Finest Yet

by Doug Liman

I’ve just seen Naomi for the first time since my arrival at Cannes. I’ve been quoted talking about Naomi, saying that I think this may be her finest performance yet. I think the reason I feel that way is because her role in this film as Valerie Plame is a truly challenging role because NOCs (Non-official cover – government intelligence operatives who assume covert roles in organizations without official ties to their government) are wallflowers by nature and are usually understated and quiet. They want be the least interesting person in the room and want to learn about you without you learning about them.

4th Week Box Office

Finally, Doug Liman’s “Fair Game,” a fictionalized account of the 2003 outing of former CIA agent Valerie Plame (Naomi Watts) and the impact it had on her marriage to United States Foreign Service diplomat Joe Wilson (Sean Penn), expanded slightly from 386 to 396 screens this weekend. Distributor Summit Entertainment continued to see fair numbers for “Game” as a result – it grossed an estimated $1,583,000, a 9% uptick from last weekend that resulted in a $3,997 average (also up from last weekend), and took its total to $5,975,000.

Summit's Fair Game, the big screen telling -- co-starring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn -- of the Valerie Plame CIA leak story, has grossed $8.6 million overseas so far thanks to a $2 million weekend at 700 screens in 17 markets, with most of the action coming from Australia and Germany.

And in Australia, Fair Game, starring Naomi Watts, opened strongly in third position with $587,118 across 138 screens. Its screen average was $4254.
