MERYL Streep is lending a helping hand to another actress faced with playing a British icon.
The Best Actress winner for her portrayal of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is giving advice to fellow star Naomi Watts who is starring in a biopic of the last Diana, Princess of Wales.
“Naomi is anxious about playing a character so loved by people around the world, not just in the UK,” says a Hollywood insider.
“She has asked Meryl’s advice on playing such a well known figure.
“This is a huge challenge for Naomi and she wants to do Diana justice as well as avoid offending her family and those who have such fond memories of her.”
