Interview: Charles Edwards on ... ‘Diana’

Charles Edwards is a veteran star of stage, TV and film in the UK.
Filmoria: First off, I must say it’s good to talk to you .....
........You’ve also finished filming now for next year’s Diana in which you play Diana’s private secretary Patrick Jephson. What can you tell us about the film?
CE: I think they’ve completed that now. I loved doing that! It’s a love story really, about Diana and Hasnat Khan – the heart surgeon she clearly had an affair with. It’s the impossibility of that really – someone like her, never able to have a straightforward relationship with anybody. The chap who directed it – Oliver Hirschbiegel – did Downfall, the Hitler movie. On YouTube, it’s become the classic scene for people to put their own dialogue to, because it’s subtitled. There’s a scene of Hitler in a bunker losing it and people have put their own subtitles to it! But him directing a very British story was very interesting and Naomi Watts [who plays Princess Diana] will be very good.
Filmoria: There hasn’t been much revealed as yet apart from a few shots of Watts as Diana. What’s she like in it?
CE: I saw a film of her doing the Panorama interview. [In the film], once she’s done it, I resign because I get fed up. I can’t control her any more. She’s starting to break out of her box and I want to keep her in the box. She’s excellent!
Filmoria: Did you meet Patrick Jephson before filming?
CE: No, I haven’t. I read his book! It was very interesting – I mean, so many people wrote books about it but his is very interesting. I think the script is very good.
Filmoria: It’s a tough area to approach, with Diana’s death still so vivid for many people.
CE: I know. We’ll see what they say… who knows?
................
Filmoria: Thanks Charles!

Actually, very good, and excellent!
Very good. It's good to read other actors' comments, coz they're actual.
