Entertainment One has a potential awards season candidate on its hands after picking up Diana for distribution. eOne is planning on a late 2013 release of the film which which delves into the relationship between Princess Diana and heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan that took place just prior to Di's death.

Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall) directed the romantic drama which stars Naomi Watts (The Impossible) and Lost's Naveen Andrews.

Dylan Wiley, VP Theatrical Marketing and Distribution, eOne Films US, talked about the acquisition, saying, "Diana will give audiences worldwide a chance to not only fall in love with the Princess all over again, but also discover a part of her life up until now kept out of the public eye. And only Naomi Watts could bring such a modern icon to life, through a truly beautiful and nuanced performance."
