Naomi Watts was promote True Friendship Vines to encourage Aussie women to get together and enjoy quality time with their closest friends.

TO them, Naomi Watts is simply their dear friend, more likely to chat about sleepless nights with kids than what she wore on the Oscars red carpet.

Emma Cooper and Rebecca Williamson are two of the star’s most-trusted mates, who have stuck by the 45-year-old through the highs and lows of her Hollywood ride.

“My son calls her Omi,” Cooper said of Watt, who is godmother to her three-year-old child, Casper....

The three women reunited in the Barossa Valley when Watts flew home last week for a whirlwind visit to shoot a Jacob’s Creek’s campaign.

Mum to sons Sasha and Sam with partner actor Liev Schrieber, Watts said: “We just talk about normal things.

“Like any friendship, to them I am just their girlfriend.

“Sure I am on the Oscars, which is the different part of it but it doesn’t change our friendship in any way.”

Williamson, a mother-of-four with ex-husband, actor Dominic Purcell, met Watts in the early 1990s, long before she was an international star.

“People often ask me what Naomi is doing at the moment, whether she is filming or whatever and I always say I don’t know because we really only talk about kids and family,” she said.

“We don’t talk about career as much as we do about the normal run of the mill friends stuff.”

Watts’ closest circle consists of about a dozen girlfriends, including Mary Coustas, Rebecca Rigg, Suze Demarchi, Nicole Kidman and Lisa Hensley.

They used to go away for girlie weekends but now mostly catch up for dinner parties and family barbecues.

Cooper, who had Watts as a bridesmaid, said: “When I had my baby in New York, I didn’t have family there so I was ringing her (Watts) every five minutes asking what to do now, my son has a temperature or how do I do this or which milk or whatever.

“She is on the phone for that and vice versa, she has bad days too.”
