Golden Globes Being Sued

A former publicist is suing the Hollywood Foreign Press for fraud.
With the Golden Globes only a few days away, the Hollywood Foreign Press has even bigger problems on their hands than who’s going to win this year’s awards.
Michael Russell, a former publicist for the Golden Globes, is suing the organization for $2 million , citing fraud and corrupt practices as his reasons. He claims that while he worked there, they frequently told him to keep instances of unethical decisions out of public knowledge.
Russell indicates that many people within the Hollywood Foreign Press exchange nominations or support for monetary or private gain. He says that HFPA members often accept payment for nominations, and he is worried that this could damage both the reputation and credibility of the Golden Globes.
The Golden Globes also must work out another lawsuit that recently came up that has to do with their contract with NBC to broadcast the ceremony.
