The Hollywood actress could be visiting the country soon to meet survivors of the 2004 Tsunami

Going by the fads, one can say that Hollywood actors are clearly smitten by India. Over the past few years, several A-listers have visited the country for one reason or another. The latest entrant to this ever-increasing list is Naomi Watts. However, the Oscar-nominated actress’ sudden interest has a lot to do with the role she’s playing in her next.
Naomi plays the role of the real-life Tsunami victim Maria Balon in the film. Maria’s family had just begun to enjoy their vacation in Thailand when Tsunami struck on December 26, 2004 and changed their lives forever. Turns out working on the film made her so deeply emotional towards the survivors of the calamity that she wants to pay a visit to the affected areas. Naomi might come for a short visit to India especially, Tamil Nadu, parts of which were ravaged by the giant waves.
The actress, who is thrilled to receive her first Golden Globe nomination for her role in the film, says that her performance made her aware of unsung heroes who rose to the occasion during the natural disaster. “There are millions of heroes out there who survived this nature’s fury, even in the Indian subcontinent. I would like to visit them and tell them that my heart goes out to them,” she adds.

That's great news.
She has been travelling a lot lately for her filming. She is definitely much more popular and liked outside of the U.S.
As we can see, her latest films were mostly with non-U.S. directors.
