Another take on Naomi Watts by "Diana" director Oliver Hirschbiegel

Oliver Hirschbiegel (director, Diana): "When I read the script, I was surprised by how much the love story moved me. But what I did not want from Naomi was a look-alike contest. The idea was to work from outside in. Diana is a very complex character. Whenever you thought you understood her, she did something different. When I look at the poster of Naomi sitting on the diving board, I see both her and Diana. And that happened quite a bit. In the film, it's scary sometimes how close the resemblance is. Good actors do that, I don't know how. She doesn't look that much like Diana, but we helped with the dresses and the makeup, and with a tiny little bit of prosthetic on the bridge of the nose. But the good actors take from within and they become the character. And Naomi is brilliant at that."

Nearly all directors admire her, this is no exception.

I feel sorry about this film, Naomi and the director, just got savaged by the shallow Brits.
