Naomi Watts' Family Outing on Jan 12, 2013

Oscar nominee Naomi Watts plays mum as she joins her sons for a sunny family outing

12 Jan 2013

With back to back red carpets on her schedule, it's nice for Naomi Watts to unwind with a bit of family time.

Naomi took a rare casual turn as she was spotted in gym clothes taking her kids out for a bike ride with her partner Liev Schreiber near their home in Brentwood, Los Angeles on Saturday morning.

Liev wore a green coat over as he clutched his youngest son Samuel's hand and watched as Alexander, 5, gallantly rode ahead on his training wheels.

The 44-year-old actress then joined her boys for the sunny excursion, picking flowers with her four-year-old as they strolled through the empty streets and showing off her slender figure in an off-the-shoulder grey shirt and black tights.

The couple enjoyed the sunny day as a break from the flurry of red carpets appearances that comes with being an A-list couple this time of year.

The Australian-raised actress was nominated last week for her role in The Impossible as a wife struggling to keep her family together in the aftermath of the devastating 2004 tsunami in Thailand.

Naomi Watts made a stunning transformation.

The Australian actress stopped the press at the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday night with her glamorous turn on the red carpet.

Naomi was a breathtaking blend of sexiness and elegance in her Alexander McQueen ensemble which featured a backless gold top with gem encrusted collar and her floor-length trailing black skirt.

Naomi, who stars in the film The Impossible about a family torn apart in the aftermath of a devastating tsunami, wore a light dusting of make-up to accentuate her delicate features.

Her jewelry by Jennifer Meyer was minimal as well, with fragile gold earrings dangling from her ears and slim bracelets gracing both of her wrists.

She carried with her a Jimmy Choo bag that matched her Jimmy Choo heels.

Being an A-lister, Naomi probably had a little help from a professional stylist, but she was the one who wore it all so well.

Meanwhile, it was all about embellishment; and whether or not it was sequins, beads or delicate lace... nothing was flat or minimalist at the Nokia theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

THE HOBBIT TOPS NATIONAL BOX OFFICE FOR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE WEEKEND

Jan 9, 2013

NAOMI WATTS' critically-acclaimed drama THE IMPOSSIBLE has failed to break THE HOBBIT's hold on the national box office as PETER JACKSON's fantasy epic held on to the number one spot for a fourth consecutive weekend.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which stars Sir Ian McKellen and Martin Freeman, raked in a further £4.1 million over the weekend (05-06Jan13), bringing its domestic gross total to £44.9 million since its release date last year (Dec12).

Tsunami movie The Impossible, which recently won Watts a coveted Golden Globe nomination, failed to overtake The Lord of the Rings prequel, scoring second place with £4 million in its opening weekend.

Ang Lee's acclaimed Life Of Pi was knocked into third place with takings of £3.4 million, while Dustin Hoffman's directorial debut Quartet, starring Dame Maggie Smith and Billy Connolly, settled for fourth after earning £2.3 million in its opening weekend.

The top five is rounded out by Tom Cruise's latest blockbuster Jack Reacher, which took £1.7 million. (Guardian UK)

Naomi Watts nominated as Best Actress by The Spanish Goya Awards amongst 14 nominations for "The Impossible"

The Goya Awards, known in Spanish as los Premios Goya, are Spain's main national film awards, considered the Spanish equivalent to the American Academy Awards. The awards were established in 1987, a year after the founding of the Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España, and the first awards ceremony took place on March 16, 1987 at the Teatro Lope de Vega, Madrid.

The ceremony continues to take place annually around the end of January, and awards are given to films produced during the previous year. The award itself is a small bronze bust of Francisco de Goya created by the sculptor José Luis Fernández.

[Article] Naomi Watts talks "Diana" in Australian Vogue Feb 2013

'Diana was properly isolated.... and paranoid': Naomi Watts opens up about playing the late Princess as she slips into a dramatic emerald dress for Vogue

Naomi Watts is a fearless actress, but there's one role that she's afraid might get the better of her.

The 44-year-old is set to play Diana Spencer in a biopic about the late Royal's life - and while Watts has previously spoken about the pressure to convincingly portray the tragic princess, she's now at a point where she understands her better, she says.

Watts initially turning down the role, but is now determined to do Diana justice in the film - not least because of her fascination with 'complicated women' like the princess.

And despite the 'huge pressure' and the inevitable 'monumental comparisons', the British / Australian star also says she can relate somewhat to Diana's fruitless struggle to maintain a private life.(...more after the jump)

[PSIFF] Naomi Watts received her 2nd Desert Palm Achievement Award and a most touching introduction from Tom Holland

The 24th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) presented Naomi Watts with the Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award (her 2nd) at its Awards Gala today on Sat, Jan 5. The presenter was none but her young co-star Tom Holland of their film "The Impossible".

The best intro, however, had to go to 16-year-old Tom Holland who intro'd his "Impossible" co-star Watts. Holland admitted of all of Watts' great performances his dad had only let him see "King Kong" and while they spent six weeks shooting in a water tank he didn't know it was "difficult" because he actually "loved it" (Watts later said she thinks she "aged 20 years in that tank"). Most important, this was Holland's first film role and he sweetly noted, "From the moment I met you, you took my hand and you never let go." Cue the "awwww" from the audience.
