Naomi Watts on Town & Country Sept 2014

Naomi Watts says she’s considering plastic surgery at 45 after moving to Los Angeles from New York.

“This being an industry town, that self-consciousness just pervades,” she says in Town & Country’s September issue. “There are days I feel victorious that I have … gotten this far. But there are a million days when I look in the mirror and think, ‘I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it. I can’t live with this anymore.’”

Watts and her partner, Liev Schreiber, relocated to LA’s tony Brentwood from New York with their two sons because his series, “Ray Donovan,” shoots there.

The piece further says Watts was plucked from “excruciating obscurity” by director David Lynch after roles in such turkeys as “Tank Girl” and “Children of the Corn IV.”

“It was excruciating,” Watts says of her first days in Hollywood after seeing the success of her pal Nicole Kidman and relocating from Sydney. “I had a cruel shock of, ‘Wow this isn’t going to be like I thought it would be.’ As someone who works from the gut and was sure I was in touch with it … I was way off.”..........[Read More]

'I feel victorious I've gotten this far without plastic surgery!' Naomi Watts opens up about 'making it' in Hollywood at an older age

Naomi Watts was 33 when she got her first big break. Now 45, the actress has revealed what it is really like to 'make it' in Hollywood at an older age.

Posing on the cover of Town and Country's September issue, the mother-of-two opens up about the pressure to get plastic surgery and her fear of auditions - despite having nearly 30 years of acting experience behind her.

'I'm really just feeling my way,' she explained. 'This being an industry town, that self-consciousness just pervades.

'There are days when I feel victorious that I have, you know, gotten this far [without plastic surgery]. But there are a million days when I look in the mirror and think, "I'm going to do it." she admits

She admitted that she is an 'anxious person' and wishes she could go back and tell her 33-year-old self to relax.

'If only I'd known back then, over those ten years of trying to prove myself, what I know now - which is just be you. I didn't trust that me was what people wanted,' she confessed.

Married to Liev Schreiber since 2005, Ms Watts gave birth to her first son, Sasha, in 2007 and her second son, Sammy, in 2008.

Her big break came in 2001, when she was cast in David Lynch's psychological thriller, Mulholland Drive.

After her audition, the director reportedly offered her the lead role without having seen any of her previous work. Still, she says auditions continue to make her nervous.

'I hate being put in a position where I'm being tested. If I feel safe, I can be me, but if I don't feel safe, I try to please,' she admitted.

Her newest role, as Evelyn, mother of Theo James’ Four in the upcoming Divergent franchise, is a departure from the usual lead character Ms Watts is used to playing - but this, she says, doesn't bother her

'I'd rather be a character actress and have longevity - as much of it as I can - than kid myself into believing I'm always going to be a leading lady, you know?'

Too much make-up, she is more a natural beauty.

She is one of the very few who doesn't put herself under the knife. Admirable. Perhaps she is aware of what has happened to her BFF.

Too much make up?? She hardly has rimmel in her eyes!!!! She's a Hollywood actress, and Glamour means make-up! And remember this is a photoshoop. Furthermore, she was told at the SCREEN aCTORS gUILD Awards that she was wearing very litle make-up!!

Her lip-stick seems to be a bit heavy here.
