Naomi Watts, Elle Fanning, Susan Sarandon team up for Three Generations
Scripted by Nikole Beckwith, the film's story is described as an exploration of identity and follows Ray (Fanning), a teenager in New York transitioning from a female to a male and her single mother Maggie (Watts), who is coming to terms with having to raise her only daughter like a son.
Sarandon will play Maggie's mother Dolly who faces a hard time understanding Ray's life-altering decision.
Directed by Gaby Dellal, the film is scheduled to go on the floors early Nov in New York.

Sure, but we don't know yet whether the approach is from a serious or comic angle. But whatever this is a very interesting subject and seems like a totally new challenge for Ms. Watts. She will break new ground with this role.
