Naomi is now in Toronto for the Premiere of "The Impossible" at the TIFF2012 today at 6:00 p.m. at the Princess of Wales Theatre in downtown Toronto. Yesterday she was at  the Variety Studio presented by Moroccanoil on Day 1 at Holt Renfrew in Toronto, Canada, and later attended a party for the event.

Naomi just returned from the Venice Film Festival and was clearly focused on catching up on family bonding by taking her blonde brigade - mother Miv and two sons Sasha and Samuel - for ice-cream today in Manhattan.

The Oscar-nominated star, who turns turns 44 later this month, looked fuss-free in her floral dress shirt with cuffed boyfriend jeans and silver canvas sneakers.

Zurich selects 'Impossible,' 'Argo'

BERLIN -- Juan Antonio Bayona's tsunami drama "The Impossible," starring Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor, Ben Affleck's Iran hostage crisis thriller "Argo," and Susanne Bier's "Love Is All You Need," with Pierce Brosnan and Trine Dyrholm, are among 111 films unspooling at the Zurich Film Festival.

The fest's lineup, announced on Thursday, includes 21 high-profile international titles -- 12 of them from the U.S. -- screening in the Gala Premieres section. Others include Nicholas Jarecki's "Arbitrage," Rian Johnson's "Looper," Jake Schreier's "Robot and Frank," Til Schweiger's actioner "Schutzengel" (The Guardians), Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal's "The Words" and Ben Lewin's "The Sessions."

Oliver Stone's "Savages," also in Gala Premieres, opens the fest, Sept. 20. The European premiere of Francois Ozon's "In the House" closes it on Sept. 30.

At Ben Watts' "Mix Tape" opening at the the Milk Studios, Naomi Watts said about her brother: "He had always had a flair for the visual, even before he got interested in photography. He was always drawing or painting. He was always very much an artist, and always very good with his hands and eyes,” she said. And she has very much taken to her brother’s latest endeavor of shooting pictures with a phone. “It’s terrible to admit that I don’t travel with a camera anymore,” she said, laughing. “Everything’s all about the instant moment, and [the phone] is the most accessible thing, isn’t it?”

Is Naomi Watts one of those people who stops on crowded sidewalks to text, or answers during dinner? “I might be, yeah. I confess,” she told VF.com. One thing she couldn’t talk about is her Princess Diana biopic—“I can’t say anything yet; it’s too early, I’m still filming it”—but she did admit she loves the clothes.

“The costumes are amazing, and very reflective of what’s going on right now, with the whole ‘90s thing,” Naomi says. And it’s not all re-created looks, there is also genuine couture in the mix. “I wear a Versace dress that she wore,” she said.

Meanwhile, Naomi is back in New York from Venice and was seen with her two sons out having a leisure stroll in town.

It's evening and Naomi Watts is in a car on her way home after a 15-hour day on the set of her new movie, Diana. She sounds tired; her voice – like that of many actors deep in a role – is sliding all over the place, from Sloaney Princess Diana tones to private-school Sydney before rolling into long American "r's".

Listening to Watts talk is like drinking a complex wine and trying to detect its geography and history. She's an international blend. Born in the UK, she moved to Australia when she was 14 and later to LA to pursue film roles. She now lives in New York and currently she is filming the role of Diana, Princess of Wales, in London. Prior to that she was on location with her family in Australia and Thailand.

Driving through the streets of London in the early evening of a summer that never was, she sounds wistful when talking about Thailand. "I was filming The Impossible. Thailand was a great environment for my kids – they were collecting hermit crabs on the beach, and it was a fantastic experience to be able to take my children with me."



It's a busy time in her life. Aged 43, Watts is engaged to fellow actor Liev Schreiber and has two small children, Alexander, or "Sasha", born in 2007, and Samuel, born in 2008. In Diana, of the film's 270 scenes, there are only three she doesn't appear in. "This is the hardest schedule I have ever done," says Watts.

New Zealand women are being encouraged to grow their ponytails then cut them off so the hair can be made into wigs for cancer victims.

Actress Naomi Watts is fronting the Beautiful Lengths campaign, which will be launched today in partnership with the charity Look Good Feel Better.

"I can only imagine that being diagnosed with cancer is terrifying and if we can support women undergoing treatment by cutting and donating our hair to provide them with a real-hair wig, that's a difference I hope many of us will make," Watts said about being involved in the campaign, promoted by haircare brand Pantene.
