"The Impossible" charity push in the UK - Nov 19, 2012

Proceeds from the London premiere of Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor's latest film The Impossible will benefit victims of the 2004 Asian tsunami.

The movie charts the story of a family caught up in the catastrophe and funds raised from the screening's ticket sales will be donated to the Indian Ocean Disaster Relief (IODR) charity.

The event will take place on November 19 at London's BFI IMAX cinema and will be attended by the movie's stars as well as director Juan Antonio Bayona.

IODR founder and chairman Tony Matharu says, "Indian Ocean Disaster Relief are delighted to be appointed as the official charity partner for the U.K. charity premiere of The Impossible.

"The story running through the heart of this film was an actuality for many of the children and young people we continue to support. The narrative objectives of this film mirror those of IODR, highlighting many of the issues faced by those we support, both bringing and maintaining attention on their continued plight."

The catastrophe claimed the lives of more than 230,000 people when a giant tsunami swept inland across 14 countries following an earthquake in the Indian Ocean.
